The capital town of the Tankwa
I’ve been trying to find an accurate description for the capital town of the Tankwa, not an easy task I discovered. Located literally in the centre of the Tankwa, yet close to nowhere, Middelpos can be best described as quirky.
What is Middelpos famous for?
Pedigree Boerboel dogs, brilliant meals at the Middelpos Hotel and its location as the capital town of the Tankwa. The general dealer in the town always has something cold to drink and sells locally made trinkets, I find this is normally a good way to support the local economy of these small towns. Sadly, fuel is no longer available at the “Diensstasie:. The town is 30kms from Gannaga Pass one of the many scenic must-drives in the Tankwa.
The town makes a great stop while exploring the Tankwa, 80kms from Calvinia, 80kms from Sutherland and only 250kms from Ceres. The town is only 25kms from the famous Gannaga Lodge where more accommodation and great food can be found.
