The story behind Tankwa Life

Tankwa Ferrari

Many moons ago I was a sales rep in the agricultural sector and had clients farming in the Tankwa. Traveling between Ceres, Calvinia and Sutherland along the R355 & R354 every fortnight, gave me plenty of time to fall in love with the region. It also gave me the time to witness the changes happening along the routes.

My biggest drawcard to the Tankwa was a living encyclopaedia, my mother-in-law. She knew the Tankwa like the back of her hand. I was blessed to have access to her vast knowledge and her insights into one of my favourite destinations were priceless. She lived in the Tankwa circa 1935 and witnessed the development of many of the gems we now find here. She was a wise old soul who could point out things and regale their history without hesitation even at a ripe old age.

So, in my own way this is sharing her legacy.
