How I found my love for Tankwa
Many moons ago I was a sales rep in the agricultural sector and had clients farming in the Tankwa. Traveling between Ceres, Calvinia and Sutherland along the R355 & R354 every fortnight, gave me plenty of time to fall in love with the region. It also gave me the time to witness the changes happening along the routes.
My biggest drawcard to the Tankwa was a living encyclopaedia, my mother-in-law. She was raised in the Tankwa from a very young age. I was blessed to have access to her unique and vast knowledge and insights into one of my favourite destinations. She lived in the Tankwa circa 1935 and witnessed many of the developments we now find here. She was a wise old soul who could point out things and regale their history without hesitation.
So, in my own way I think this is sharing her legacy.
